Overview
Leading Mission-Critical Commissioning Agent | San Jose, CA or Atlanta, GA
A well-established, nationally recognised commissioning and QA/QC firm is expanding its data center practice to meet surging hyperscale demand. With decades of mission-critical delivery behind them and a strong pipeline of major projects ahead, this is a ground-floor opportunity to lead a flagship programme and grow with a division that has serious momentum.
What you'll be doing
Own the full commissioning programme for a major hyperscale data center project from L2 through systems acceptance
Lead and coordinate on-site commissioning teams, subcontractors, and client stakeholders day-to-day
Manage commissioning schedules, documentation, and deliverables to keep a complex, live project on track
Serve as the primary client contact - building trust, managing expectations, and resolving issues before they escalate
Mentor and develop junior commissioning staff, including an on-site Assistant Cx PM
Review and approve test procedures, commissioning reports, and punch list resolution
Drive quality and safety standards across all commissioning activities on site
Contribute to a growing national data center programme - shaping how the team works, not just following a playbook
What you'll need
5+ years of recent, hands-on data center commissioning experience in a comparable PM or senior lead role
Background from a commissioning agency, general contractor, or data center owner/developer - you've owned the Cx process, not supported it
Proven ability to manage client relationships and lead multi-disciplinary teams on active, complex sites
Based in, happy to relocate to or work on rotational basis in either San Jose, CA or Atlanta, GA
Comfortable with project-based on-site commitments (current project runs through mid-2027)
Bonus if you have
Experience across multiple data center generations or hyperscale clients
Familiarity with L0-L5 commissioning workflows in large-scale builds
Background in MEP systems with crossover into Cx leadership
What's in it for you
$170,000-$200,000 base salary
$4,750/month per diem on project, plus $800/month travel home allowance
Flexible Time Off - no fixed cap, managed by you with team coordination
401(k) with up to 6% employer match
Project performance, division, and company bonuses
2-week structured onboarding with a managed handover period
A growing national Cx practice with a clear path forward as the programme scales across ATL, VA, TX, and beyond
